Dr. Aisha Cheng, optometrist
Dr. Aisha Cheng, optometrist
Dr. Aisha Cheng earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in June 2002. Before joining Peninsula Lifetime Eyecare Centre, Dr. Cheng completed a one year residency program emphasizing primary eyecare and ocular disease at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. In addition to general optometric services, Dr. Cheng’s professional interests include co-management of ocular disease and laser vision correction, contact lenses and pediatrics. Through her involvement with Icare International, Dr. Cheng has provided much needed eyecare to the people of rural Mexico and looks forward to participating in future eyecare missions to third world countries. In her spare time, Dr. Cheng enjoys hiking, biking, travelling and spending time with her family and friends.
   
Dr. Mark Bourdeau, optometrist
Dr. Mark Bourdeau, optometrist
Dr. Mark Bourdeau graduated in 2002 from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. After graduation, Dr. Bourdeau practiced in Vancouver before moving to Phoenix, Arizona to complete a one year hospital-based residency in primary eyecare and ocular disease. He returned to Canada in 2004, working in private practice in Calgary and in the Sight Enhancement Clinic at the Rockyview General Hospital, a referral clinic for those with vision loss. His practice interests include ocular disease, primary care optometry and low vision. Dr. Bourdeau was awarded Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in December 2004 and has lectured at continuing education meetings in the U.S. He is currently completing his second year as President of the Alberta College of Optometrists. Dr. Bourdeau and his family have moved to Sidney and look forward to the moderate temperatures and outdoor activities.
   
Dr. Laurie Brennan, optometrist
Dr. Laurie Brennan began her post-secondary studies in immunology at the University of Toronto, where she graduated with honours from the Bachelor and Master of Science programs. She subsequently completed a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2001 at the University of Waterloo, graduating with distinction. She has been practicing in the western communities of Victoria since 2001, and is very pleased to join the team at Peninsula Lifetime Eyecare Centre. Her professional interests include primary care optometry, laser surgery co-management and contact lenses. She is also interested in 3rd world eye care and participated in a mission to Mexico with ICARE International. Her favourite hobby outside of the office is singing! She studies voice and has sung in various choirs across Canada and loves to perform in vocal recitals with her fellow voice students.
   
Dr. Jack Williams, optometrist
Dr. Jack Williams, optometrist
Dr. Jack Williams graduated from the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 1975. After two years in Edmonton, he established his practice in Sidney in 1977. His professional interests include contact lenses, sports vision and evolving eyecare technologies including laser vision correction. Dr. Williams has a keen interest in his professional associations and has served numerous years on his local, provincial and national councils. He has also participated in Third World eyecare missions to the Caribbean, India and Africa. Dr. Williams just worked his last day at the practice and retired on June 18, 2010. He will be missed by his colleagues, patients and staff, but looks forward to his new retired life with his wife, Marilyn where they will be enjoying playing tennis, sailing, hiking, skiing and travelling.
   
Dr. Lorie Bradley, optometrist
Dr. Lorie Bradley, optometrist
Dr. Lorie Bradley graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1978. After working in Nanaimo for two years, she joined Dr. Jack Williams in the practice of optometry in Sidney. Dr. Bradley has worked on various committees on behalf of the B.C. Association of Optometrists during her career. Dr. Bradley’s practice interests involve general optometry services, including contact lenses, examination of children and laser vision correction co-management. Outside the office, Dr. Bradley’s interests include sewing, embroidery and gardening.
Dr. Bradley retired in April of 2011 and will be greatly missed by both her patients and all of those who worked with her .
